APL: Anyang Kitchen Science Lab

Anyang Kitchen Science Lab will consist several workshop activities from several artist/mentors experimetal on citizen science and one special activity of making fermentation prepared for the closing


“Experimental Wine Making”
9th November 2016 | 1PM – 5PM
Venue: Seoksu Market

In Experimental Winemaking, we will experiment to make wine from various fruits and herbs available in the market using simple homebrew equipment. We will try different combinations of fruits and other ingredients in order to get some delicious wine, we will also learn to use a hydrometer and vinometer to know how the alcohol content can be obtained from the fermentation process.

안양 요리과학 실험실은 간단한 살림 도구들을 이용하여 DIY 생명공학을 소개하고 일상생활에서의 과학적인 요소들을 깨우칠 수 있도록 하는 목적이 있다. AKSL은 다양한 작가들/멘토들과 함께하는 다양한 워크숍과 1회의 특별한 활동으로 구성되어 있다.


“와인 제조 실험” (실험적인 와인 메이킹 워크숍)

날짜: 2016년 11월 9일 오후 1~5시

장소: 석수시장(스톤앤워터 ‘불나방’)

시장에서 구할 수 있는 다양한 종류의 과일과 허브를 재료 삼아 간단한 자가 양조 기구를 통해 와인을 제조해볼 예정이다. 수많은 과일과 허브 조합을 통해 맛있는 와인을 제조하고, 비중계와 주정계를 이용하여 발효 과정에서 발생하는 알코올 함량을 측정하는 방식을 교육할 예정이다.

Experimental Wine Making Documentation:

Every participants had a change to experiment to make their own wine using local fruits. Its a simple DIY practice of home brewing wine and learning the science behind the wine fermentation.

This workshop was conducted on a beginning of APL project to have enough time for wine harvest for the closing APL. They tasted the wine in the closing party event.


“Bacteria Farm Workshop”
13th & 14th November 2016 | 1PM – 3PM (2 days workshops)
Venue: Anyang Pavilion

Culturing some bacterias using various medium that we could find in our kitchen. These bacteria cultures bring a lot of benefits for our health and imune system. The participants will learn to do a basic culture and take care this culture as they take care a pet.

Bacteria Farm workshop contain :
1. Madre (Lactobacilli)
2. Nata Starter (Acetobater Xylium)
3. Probiotic starter drink (Lactobacillus Casei)
4. Rejuvelac (Lactobacillus Bifidus)
5. Nato ( Bacillus)

“박테리아 농장 워크숍”

날짜: 2016년 11월 13~14일 오후 1~3시 (2일간)

장소: 안양파빌리온(안양예술공원)

부엌에서 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 다양한 매체를 이용하여 박테리아를 배양할 수 있다. 이러한 박테리아 중 상당수는 우리의 건강과 면역체계에 유익하다. 참여자들은 본 워크숍을 통해 기본적인 박테리아를 배양하며 마치 애완동물처럼 기르는 법을 배울 수 있다.

박테리아 농장 워크숍:

1. 마드레(Lactobacilli)

2. 나타 스타터(Acetobater Xylium)

3. 프로바이오틱 스타터 음료(Lactobacillus Casei)

4. 레쥬빌락(Lactobacillus Bifidus)

5. 낫또(Bacillus)

 Bacteria Farm Workshop Documentation:

Participants learning about microorganism and culture it. They could farm it and take a health benefits from this living microorganism. From this people can be lead to produce their own probiotics drinks/food, making bacteria starters for nata, bakeries, etc.


“Health Care (Open Hardware for Citizen Science Workshop)”

“DIY 혈당계 만들기” (시민 과학 워크숍을 위한 오픈 하드웨어)

날짜: 2016년 11월 15일 오후 1~3시

장소: 안양파빌리온(안양예술공원)

DIY Glucometer Device Workshop Documentation:

This workshop about how to make your own blood sugar test device with a simple electronics components and design. Its simplified by displaying alert how high, low or normal your blood sugar is on RGB LED light instead of showing numbers as regular blood sugar device do. Participants were learn to built a healthcare instruments using open source software and hardware.

Another workshops on Anyang Kitchen Science were also held at Anyang Girl High School. These 2 days workshops on Anyang Girl High School was in collaboration with 5th APAP, HONF and Anyang Girl High School.

Anyang Kitchen Science Lab: Fashion Revolution ( Sustainable Fashion)
